Steve’s Test Post for SEO

At a news conference Thursday Rohrabacher and Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind., highlighted the case and urged top military officials to drop all charges against the SEALs.

The lawmakers were joined by one of the SEALs, Matthew McCabe, accused of punching Ahmed Hashim Abed in the stomach and face after Abed was captured by McCabe’s unit in September 2009 in Fallujah. Abed, who now in Iraqi custody, is believed to be behind the 2004 killing, burning and mutilation of four Blackwater military contractors – one of whom was a former Navy SEAL.

“We join with our fellow citizens today in demanding that this prosecution, this court-martial, be canceled,” said Rohrabacher, R-Huntington Beach. “These men should be given medals – not be prosecuted.”

As a friend and occasional consultant to Rohrabacher, Humphries is one of more than 120,000 people who have signed a petition asking Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Maj. Gen. Charles Cleveland and Chief of Naval Operations Gary Roughead to drop all charges against the three.

McCabe, a Petty Officer Second Class from Perrysburg, Ohio, is charged with dereliction of duty, making a false statement to investigators and assault. Petty Officer Second Class Jonathan Keefe of Yorktown, Va., and Petty Officer First Class Julio Huertas of Blue Island, Ill., are accused of trying to cover up the alleged assault.

While Humphries did not comment on the specifics of the SEALs’ actions, he said members of the special ops, who risk their lives on a regular basis, should not be subjected to what he called the current widespread “political correctness” in the military.

“The system should have more flexibility in judging that which is right versus that which is fashionable,” said Humphries, who owns Global Studies Group, an international security company in Huntington Beach.

“It’s absolutely insane,” he added. “It’s such a minor, minor infraction.”

At the news conference, McCabe’s lawyer, Neal Puckett, did not deny that force was used against Abed after he was captured. But, he said, “All three of these SEALs are pleading not guilty at their courts-martial.”

McCabe did not talk to reporters. His trial is set for May 3 in Norfolk, Va. Keefe and Huertas will be tried next month in Iraq.

If convicted, McCabe faces a maximum penalty of one year in jail, a reduction in rank, loss of one year’s pay and a bad conduct discharge.

Humphries said that the publicity surrounding U.S. soldiers’ mistreatment of prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison may have lead to the military’s increased sensitivity to international opinion.

“If I don’t think he’s guilty of a crime,” Rohrabacher said, “I don’t give a damn what the international community thinks. He should be a hero.”

Source Code of Several Atari 7800 Games Released! | ProgrammerFish – Everything that’s programmed!

Source Code of Several Atari 7800 Games Released! | ProgrammerFish – Everything that’s programmed!.

Remember the Dig Dug or Centipede or Robotron? They used to be favorites wheimagen Atari’s 7800 series was still around. Now since the era of those consoles is over and a different world of interactive reality gaming has taken over, Atari has unofficially released source code of over 15 games for the coders and enthusiasts to admire the state-of-the-art (because  this is what it was back then). During those times nobody would have imagined in their wildest dreams the games that Atari’s developers floated into the gaming thirsty market and instantly swept across continental boundaries. But things changed soon after that and a company once regarded as one of the most successful gaming console manufacturers and developers faded away in the pages of our technology’s hall-of-fame.

In an official release, Atari has quoted that the purpose of the release is to give potential developers insight into the Atari’s gaming platform so they may possibly build upon the 7800 series.

I have collected of the game’s banners:

Let’s make the web faster – Google Code.

Some choice excerpts:

CSS: Using every declaration just once

Using every CSS declaration only once is an effective way to reduce file size of style sheets. It’s not a trivial optimization technique though: Watch over the cascade and adjust your editing workflow.

HTTP caching

Web pages can load much faster on repeated visits if the resources come from the cache. Learn about two groups of HTTP headers that make all the difference.

Optimizing web graphics

Optimizing your web illustrations, icons, and graphics is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to decrease your page load time. In this tutorial, we discuss image file formats and optimize some real Google graphics for faster download on the web.
